Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 2021
Cavallotto is one of Barolo's most respected traditionalist producers — a family estate in Castiglione Falletto that has farmed the Bricco Boschis cru since the 1920s and was among the very first in the region to estate-bottle, back in 1948. This 7.3-hectare monopole site has 45-year-old vines enjoying panoramic southeast and southwest exposures at 230 to 350 metres in elevation, farmed organically, with full destemming and fermentation using only indigenous yeasts, a traditional maceration of 30 to 35 days, malolactic fermentation in cement, and ageing in Slavonian oak casks for three to three and a half years. The 2021 vintage — widely considered one of the finest in Barolo for some years — gives the wine real freshness alongside its trademark structure.
Forest floor, leather, dog rose and camphor aromas mingle with dark spice, leading to a full-bodied, still youthfully austere palate of ripe Marasca cherry, black raspberry, truffle, crushed mint and star anise before a blood orange finish — beautifully balanced and firmly structured, with a backbone of firm, seasoned tannins and fresh acidity. The nose is floral and spicy, the Barolo character evident and youthful, with black fruit, substantial tannic and spicy structure, good freshness, and a tight, beautifully balanced finish
Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 2021 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
