By Farr is Gary Farr's family estate in Geelong's Moorabool Valley — one of Australia's most quietly revered producers, now run by son Nick. Gary spent formative vintages working alongside the Seysses family at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy before founding By Farr in 1994, and that lineage runs right through the winemaking today: whole-bunch fermentation, native yeast, minimal intervention, and the same site-first philosophy that defines Dujac's own Morey-Saint-Denis wines. Production is tiny, allocations are mailing-list only, and the wines are routinely ranked among Australia's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Six distinct soil types across just 36 planted acres give each labelled site its own unmistakable personality — the same conviction that a single hillside can taste unlike its neighbour, transplanted from Burgundy to Geelong.
