Domaine Bois de Boursan Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2019
This is ripe, pure and beautifully balanced. Jeb Dunnuck scored it 94 points, finding ripe cherry, blackberry, saddle leather and peppery garrigue over a medium to full-bodied, seamless palate with freshness, building tannins and a great finish, calling it “pure, traditional, utterly classic Châteauneuf”. Others pick up flowers, liquorice, kirsch and spice, with olive tapenade and red berries on the finish, and note it’s silky and refined with lift and length. The fruit is so ripe it is delicious on release, while the grainy tannins and structure mean it should age gracefully.
