Jean-Francois Ganevat Poulsard Cuvee de L'Enfant Terrible 2022
Cuvée de l'Enfant Terrible is Ganevat's purest expression of Poulsard — that famously pale, delicate, transparent grape that the Jura makes uniquely its own. Made from a subsoil of white and grey marl, the vines are cultivated biodynamically, with natural vinification using indigenous yeasts and no fining or filtering. A short maceration with indigenous yeasts only, the wine then aged for 12 months in seasoned wooden tronconic vats and bottled at the estate without fining, filtration or added sulphites — an approach that leaves Poulsard's notorious fragility entirely exposed, for better and for worse, vintage to vintage.
Notes of small red fruits like wild strawberries and spices, with great freshness and sapidity in the mouth — a very fine and energetic wine. A very lovely expression of this grape variety in the pure Ganevat style, with notes of red fruit, forest floor, rose and minerals — fine wine, all freshness and fruit, extremely enjoyable. Poulsard at its best — fresh and light but with a strong, sharp personality; not such a bad kid, actually extremely polite and sensitive, but opinionated.
