Conterno Fantino Barolo 'Vigna Sorì Ginestra' / Vigna Ped Mosconi (officially registered as Vigna Ped in the famed Mosconi cru) is a monumental, powerhouse Barolo that represents the darkest, most muscular, and structured side of Monforte d'Alba. Sourced from a prized parcel of old-vine Nebbiolo planted in 1965, this vineyard sits at a high altitude of 360 to 380 meters with a perfect south-facing exposure. Unlike the lighter sandy soils of neighboring sites, the terroir here is defined by a dense, compact matrix of white tuffaceous marl, heavy clay, and limestone, forcing the ancient roots deep into the bedrock. Fabio Fantino pursues a meticulous blueprint of organic farming and modern precision in the cellar: the fruit undergoes a high-tech maceration in horizontal rotary fermenters to extract deep color and phenolic complexity, followed by a patient 24-month maturation in toasted French oak barriques. This produces a monolithic, incredibly concentrated Barolo built for absolute longevity.
