C.V.N.E. (Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana) Rioja Cune Reserva 2010
C.V.N.E. (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) Rioja 'Cune' Reserva is a beautifully traditional, estate-grown classic that represents the historic heart of Rioja Alta. Crafted by one of Haro's founding powerhouse bodegas, this Reserva is a meticulous blend dominated by Tempranillo, with small, traditional splashes of Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo. The hand-harvested fruit is sourced from mature vines in optimal sub-parcels, undergoing a gentle fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve pure varietal fruit character. In line with strict Reserva regulations and C.V.N.E.’s classical style, the wine is aged for a patient 24 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, followed by an additional year of refinement in the bottle before release, ensuring a perfectly integrated, food-friendly red.
In the glass, it reveals a deep, brilliant ruby-red color with subtle brick-orange glints at the rim. The nose opens with an inviting, highly expressive bouquet of ripe red cherries, wild raspberries, and liquorice, beautifully framed by classic Rioja notes of tobacco leaf, vanilla bean, and toasted cedar wood. On the palate, it delivers a medium-to-full-bodied mouthful of savory red fruit and spice, showcasing a gorgeous texture where the fine-grained, chalky tannins have seamlessly melted into the juicy acid backbone. It finishes completely clean and dry, leaving a long, elegant trail of dried cranberries, balsamic notes, and a touch of earthiness.
