Fattoria Poggio di Sotto

Fattoria Poggio di Sotto is one of Montalcino's most revered and uncompromising traditionalist estates, long celebrated for Brunello di Montalcino of extraordinary purity, restraint and longevity, made with extended ageing in large Slavonian oak casks rather than the smaller French barriques favoured by more modernist producers. Now owned by the Tuscan wine group ColleMassari following founder Piero Palmucci's departure, the estate continues to be regarded by critics and collectors as a benchmark for what classical, terroir-faithful Sangiovese can achieve — wines that consistently rank among the very finest expressions of Brunello produced anywhere in the appellation.
