Its vineyards, planted predominantly to Merlot with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, benefit from the famous blue clay and gravel soils that have made Pomerol synonymous with some of Bordeaux's greatest wines. The wines are generous, supple and richly textured, displaying ripe plum, blackberry and black cherry layered with chocolate, truffle and subtle spice.
