Owned by the Rothschild family of Château Mouton Rothschild, Château d'Armailhac is a Fifth Growth estate in Pauillac with a history stretching back to the eighteenth century. Its vineyards lie on classic gravel soils planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Consistent investment in vineyard quality has made d'Armailhac one of Pauillac's strongest performers.
The wines are generous yet refined, displaying cassis, blackberry, cedar and tobacco alongside subtle notes of graphite and spice. Firm but polished tannins provide excellent ageing potential, while the fruit remains vibrant and approachable from an earlier age than many neighbouring Pauillac estates. The result is a classic Left Bank wine that consistently overdelivers.
