Domaine Odoul-Coquard Vosne-Romanee 2020

The Vosne-Romanée is one of the most quietly coveted wines in the Odoul-Coquard range — a single assembled cuvée from two parcels that arrived in the domaine through Sébastien's father's side of the family, giving it a personal significance that is evident in the care with which it is made. The Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes comes from two parcels — Chalandins and Champs Perdrix — with vines of over 60 years of age, grown on limestone mixed with clay and marl on an east-facing slope. The village appellation Vosne-Romanée is a blended cuvée assembled from these parcels, with one third new oak used at village level — restrained enough to keep the focus entirely on the village's signature aromatic expression. Sébastien is characteristically forthright about what draws him to the appellation: nine out of ten clients, when tasting across the range, reach for the Vosne above all else.

Floral notes on the nose with lots of energy and vibrancy on the palate — just a hint of toasted oak on the finish.
