Domaine Odoul-Coquard Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers 2020

Les Sentiers is the rarest and most intimate wine in the Odoul-Coquard Chambolle-Musigny trilogy — and the numbers alone tell the story of just how precious it is. Only one barrel of Les Sentiers is produced each vintage — a true micro-vinification, with Sébastien using a new barrel for the first six months before switching to an older barrel, conscious that any more oak influence would overwhelm a wine of this delicacy. Les Sentiers sits in the northern part of Chambolle-Musigny, bordering on Morey-Saint-Denis, just below Bonnes Mares — a position that lends the wine something of the structure and muscle of its northern neighbour while retaining the perfume and spice that defines Chambolle. The deep soil of white marl gives a wine that is fresh and floral on the nose with rich red-fruit flavours and minerals on the palate, wines from this zone tending toward a touch more structure than the typical Chambolle village character without ever losing the appellation's signature aromatic lift.
