Domaine Mee Godard Beaujolais-Villages 2021 750ml

Regular price $120.00

Mee Godard is one of Beaujolais's most compelling newer voices — a one-woman operation launched in 2013, with Mee doing every job herself: pruning, farming, winemaking, cellar work. Her base of operations spans five hectares in Morgon, one hectare in Moulin-à-Vent, and additional fruit purchased from Beaujolais-Villages, often from the commune of Quincié, where Gamay vines thrive on soils of granite, sand and volcanic rock. With 60-year-old vines on average and a passion for sustainable viticulture, this small domaine consistently delivers wines that capture the essence of the terroir — the Gamay grapes undergoing whole-cluster maceration with indigenous yeasts, the traditional Beaujolais technique that enhances aromatic complexity and fruitiness without artifice. The Revue du Vin de France summed up the Villages succinctly: harvested at Quincié, a Beaujolais of round fruit and a spirited acidic backbone — a beautiful introduction. VivinoCellarTracker

Bright ruby red in the glass, reflecting the vivacity of the vintage. On the nose, aromas of crunchy red fruits — raspberry and cherry — mingle with delicate floral notes, a real invitation to explore the subtle nuances of the Beaujolais villages. On the palate, the silky texture is supported by fine tannins, creating a balanced and elegant taste experience, with a fresh and persistent finish that highlights the typicity of each village. This is Beaujolais as it should be — not the caricature of Nouveau, but a genuine terroir wine of freshness, energy and charm, made by a producer whose seriousness of purpose is evident in every bottle.
