Domaine Christian Moreau Pere et Fils Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2022

Les Clos is the largest and most revered of Chablis's seven Grand Crus, and Moreau owns more of it than any other producer: around three hectares, from vines averaging 52 to 61 years old, farmed organically. The family bought the walled "clos" on the lower slopes of the cru in 1904, over a century ago, and today Fabien Moreau makes the wine. This is the main Les Clos cuvée, blended from the top, middle and bottom of the hillside, while the Clos des Hospices is bottled separately as a richer, spicier wine. The primary parcels face southeast on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone marl, very rocky, with white, dense clays, so the wine carries the stony intensity this slope is known for.

The result is a Chablis of finesse and power. Pink grapefruit, lemon and citrus peel meet white flowers, a touch of oak and a chalky, flinty minerality. The palate is deep, full-bodied and precise, with zesty acidity and a long, balanced finish.
