From Limestone Coast, and an organic grower that Ben Haines has been working with for some time. Of course Ben purchased a property in Ashton in Adelaide Hills so we are waiting for that to come online too. Stay tuned. This feels svelte, soft, sexy, supple, a little slurpy, somewhat succulent and seductive in the sense of dark fruit, brooding sweet spice and suggestions of sarsaparilla, cola and clove. A feast. It slips along the palate, with ease, silky tannins shaping things sufficiently and drawing the wine out slowly to a lingering, slurp of spice to finish. Very even, very satisfying, very in the vein of syrah over shiraz which feels somewhat a miracle given the location, but in the hands of the clever, most things are possible.
