Monts Mains is the one that reminds you why.

Situated within the Montmains premier cru on the left bank of the Serein river, Raveneau's holding here is just 0.36 hectares, with vines averaging 35 years of age planted on shallow soils — a tiny parcel that produces one of the most characterful wines in the entire range. What it lacks in scale it more than compensates for in personality.

Where some Raveneau premiers crus are defined by tension and mineral austerity, Monts Mains takes a different path. It is rounded and plush, with notes of ripe peach fruit, yet still supremely elegant and refined — a vibrant, fresh line of acidity threading through real volume and density in the mouth, finishing with a lingering mineral presence. Across vintages, reviewers find white peaches, fresh lemons and green mango on an expressive nose, leading to a very plush, fresh and succulent palate with terrific roundness and a long, pulling finish. In older vintages it takes on honey, iodine and a brothy saline quality that is deeply compelling — a lemony brine on the nose, a saline-infused texture in the mouth, and a bitter citrus rind finish that is refreshing and long.
