Via Nuova takes its name from a small vineyard on the edge of the historical centre of Barolo, named for its proximity to the road — new at the time — connecting Barolo to Novello. The 2021 blends fruit from six organic crus across three villages — Terlo and Liste in Barolo, Ravera di Monforte and Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba, and Gabutti and Baudana in Serralunga d'Alba — some 2.5 hectares sitting at 340 metres and facing southeast. After native fermentation in stainless steel with frequent pumping-over and punch-downs, the wine was aged in lightly toasted French oak (30% new) for 24 months, then a further year in bottle before release. The 2021 vintage struck a near-perfect balance between Piedmont's warm climate and the cooling effect of altitude — exactly the conditions this multi-site blend was built to capture.\u003cspan class=\"inline-flex\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\"\u003eFragrant black cherry, wild plum and dark raspberry stream along a structured, stony palate, vibrant with lofty acidity and centred by firm, long tannins — all scented with crushed florals, balsam and black tea, lingering on a saline finish. A lifted and energetic Barolo with a jewelled ruby colour, the nose balanced with ripe peaches, sweet sandalwood, floral perfume and wild strawberries, delivering a firm sense of inner fibre and richness with dark blueberry and black fruit, enhanced by ethereal tones of blue flower and aniseed. Both Wine Advocate and Vinous scored the wine 96 points, with Vinous calling it bright and energetic, with tons of drive, noting it needs a few years to be at its most expressive. A beautifully balanced, multi-terroir Barolo from a benchmark vintage — built to reward patience through the 2030s.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"E.
